Jim Ross seemingly confirms top AEW star's contract is expiring amid exit rumors
A top AEW star has been rumored to be leaving the company soon. Jim Ross has now confirmed that the star's contract is expiring.
Quickly after Malakai Black joined AEW, he formed the House of Black. Since then, the group has been a dominant force on the roster, even winning the AEW World Trios Championships.
However, they haven't been able to win back the titles since they lost them. On the 6th November episode of AEW Dynamite, Malakai Black competed against Adam Cole and lost. Following the match, he hugged his opponent which led many to believe that he was leaving the company. However, Black has since denied those rumors.
The House of Black were back in action this week on Dynamite against FTR and they came out on top.
Speaking on his Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross was surprised that House of Black defeated FTR on Dynamite because of the rumors of Black leaving the company. He also confirmed that the former WWE star's contract is expiring before heaping praise on the performer:
“I was shocked, to be honest with you, that FTR lost [on Dynamite]. I was just assuming because of the rumored situation of Mr. Black leaving. I think his contract is expiring…he’s a hell of a hand. I love the guy. He’s a nice guy, smart guy. He’d be good in the booker’s room. I thought FTR would go over based on my assumptions of what was going on. I’m glad I didn’t go to Vegas to bet on that one because I would have bet my f**king farm on FTR winning and they didn’t. I think that’s great. I just think it’s great booking." [H/T Ringside News]
Brody King reacted to the rumors of Malakai Black leaving AEW
Malakai Black and Brody King have fought side-by-side since the beginning of the House of Black. They even have their own tag team called Kings of the Black Throne. Needless to say, they have grown quite close to each other.
Despite, Malakai Black addressing the rumors of his AEW departure, Brody King felt the need to react to the rumors. He jokingly stated on social media that Black was going to start a traveling cat circus. He even claimed in humor that he saw a video of Black's cats re-enacting a Ricochet vs. Will Ospreay match:
"I’m going to miss my brother Malakai… I heard after last nights match @malakaiblxck is leaving wrestling forever and starting a traveling cat circus. I knew it was his true calling when he showed me a video of his cats reenacting a move for move Ospreay vs Ricochet match."

We will have to wait and see if Malakai Black will choose to renew his contract before it expires.
