Jim Ross struggling to connect with former WWE star in AEW: "I still haven't felt her yet"
AEW commentator Jim Ross has stated that he still hasn't felt the connection with a former WWE star in the Jacksonville-based promotion. The star in question is Mercedes Mone.
The CEO became All Elite in March 2024. She made her debut on Dynamite: Big Business in Boston. The 32-year-old is the reigning AEW TBS Champion and IWGP Strong Women's Champion.
Meanwhile, in the recent episode of the Grilling JR podcast, veteran commentator Jim Ross said that he has yet to feel ''her connection.'' However, the 72-year-old admitted that Mone was ''pretty cool!''
"I still haven't felt her [Mercedes] yet. I still haven't felt her connection yet, and I know that she's got a lot of popularity, and I know that people around the world know who she is. But I haven't felt it. So sometimes I think she's a cool babyface; sometimes I think she's a cool heel. But she's pretty cool nonetheless!" he said. [From 6:18 to 6:46]
AEW star Mercedes Mone updates fans about her brother's health condition
In a recent edition of Mone Mag Volume 2, the reigning AEW TBS Champion wrote about her autistic younger brother Joshua Kaestner Varnado. Mercedes stated that the past several months had been tough for her and her family as her brother's condition had taken a turn for the worse.
However, the former WWE Superstar added that Joshua ''was happier than ever'' after the doctors adjusted his medications.
"For the past several months, Joshua has been in and out of the hospital. He was struggling to speak and could barely walk. Every time I visited him in Boston, I had to feed him and legit hold him up in order to walk. But within the past two weeks, his doctors adjusted his medications. He is happier than ever and is back to the Joshua that I haven't seen in a year. It's incredible. He's walking, talking, vibrant, and truly happy inside,'' she wrote.
Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see what the Tony Khan-led creative team has in store for The CEO in the coming weeks.
