Jim Ross wants Tony Khan to give controversial former WWE Superstar a shot in AEW
Jim Ross has revealed that he wants Tony Khan to give a controversial former WWE Superstar a shot in AEW. This will be an interesting story to follow to see what comes of it.
The star in question is none other than Matt Riddle. He recently revealed that he spoke to Tony Khan but didn't seem to think that the latter would sign him up to AEW. Now, WWE Hall of Famer, Jim Ross, has suggested that the President give the controversial 38-year-old a chance.
However, he also said he understands why Khan might not want to bring the controversial star to All Elite Wrestling because of his past baggage, the weight of which he wasn't sure of. Speaking on his Grilling JR podcast, he said that although Matt was a talented wrestler he did come with his fair share of troubles from his past, but that he never writes anyone off.
“I don’t know if there’s an opportunity there or not. If they decided, I would suggest that he’d be given a shot. I understand Tony’s reluctance because Matt has a little baggage. How much that baggage weighs, I don’t know, but I know he’s a very talented kid, got a great look. He’s got that Kevin Von Erich look. He wrestles barefoot. I’ll never say never, I don’t know that it’s even on the drawing board, have no idea, that’s a Tony Khan thing, not nothing I’m involved in. Whatever Tony Khan does, I’ll do my best to make it work in my role,” he said. [H/T Fightful]

Jim Ross says former WWE star Matt Riddle has a unique style
In the same episode, the AEW commentator praised Matt Riddle and said that the former WWE Superstar had a unique style. He also said that one can not turn their back on talented wrestlers.
“You can’t never turn your back on talented wrestlers, [...] He looks good, he’s got a unique style, he’s got good charisma. He brings something to the table and I learned from the cowboy many many years ago, Bill hired guys he didn’t like at all, but he knew they drew money. So, that’s what his priority, which it should have been, he was a one man band. Bringing guys in that would draw money would just help everybody, help everybody in the card when you stop to think about it,” he said.
Matt Riddle is undoubtedly a talented wrestler and does indeed have a unique style. It will be interesting to see if Tony Khan will have a change of mind and pay heed to Jim Ross’ advice and hire the controversial former WWE Superstar in the Jacksonville-based promotion.
