Jon Moxley amongst the people who knew of a former WWE star's secret AEW appearance (Exclusive)
A former WWE star recently made a shocking appearance in AEW and according to the star, Jon Moxley and only a few others knew about the surprise. The star in question is none other than Gangrel.
Gangrel made a surprising appearance during the Barbed Wire Steel Cage match for the TNT Championship between Malakai Black and Adam Copeland at AEW Double or Nothing. The veteran came in to side with his former partner, Adam Copeland, who also came out to wrestle in his 'Brood' persona at the Pay-Per-View.
In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling's Bill Apter, the leader of the Brood revealed that his appearance at AEW Double or Nothing was kept a secret.
"Well, I was hid away. They didn't tell anybody I was coming in. It was like super, super secret. I came into the building early before the rest of talent came in and I was in Adam's locker room. I was back there with, I believe, Jon Moxley was in there. Not too many people knew I was there. I just sat into that room all day and right before that match, I jumped into the black hoodies and stuff and went out there and climbed underneath."
The veteran further revealed everybody's reaction when he got out of the locker room:
"Afterwards, people were like 'Man, what are you doing here?' and it was a great positive attitude. (...) When I finished, I showered and was on a red-eye and leaving for the airport before the show was even wrapped. [3:15 - 4:08]
Gangrel further reveals his brief interaction with AEW CEO Tony Khan at Double or Nothing
WWE veteran Gangrel has had conversations with Tony Khan in the past, however, the interaction was very brief after his appearance at AEW Double or Nothing. Speaking with Bill Apter of Sportskeeda Wrestling, Gangrel revealed that Tony Khan came up to thank him but quickly turned his attention to Adam Copeland who suffered a broken tibia in the match.
"He was coming up to say thank you for everything but realized that Adam [Copeland] was hurt and sent a bit of a panic. We got him back to medical to get checked out. So I didn't really get to talk to him much but any other interactions I had with him has always been good." [4:09 - 4:26]
Tony Khan always loves to put over his talent and appreciates legends for their appearances in All Elite Wrestling. It will be interesting to see if Khan brings back Gangrel in the future.
You can check out Gangrel's wrestling school at Coastal Championship training facility or catch him on his social media account "Gangrel13".
