Jon Moxley officially picks Death Riders member to stop huge threat outside AEW, first-time-ever match confirmed

AEW World Champion Jon Moxley has picked Claudio Castagnoli to handle business against a NJPW star. The star is none other than Shota Umino.

The Death Rider is coming off a successful AEW World Title defense against Orange Cassidy at Full Gear. However, Jon Moxley and the rest of The Death Riders have some unfinished business outside of All Elite Wrestling, notably against Shota Umino at Wrestle Dynasty.

The rivalry started back at NJPW Fighting Spirit Unleashed where Shota Umino was interrupted by a video package of Jon Moxley. The All Elite Wrestling World Champion threatened to send an emissary to the Tokyo Dome on January 5 to handle business.

On night five of the New Japan World Tag League on November 24, a video of Claudio Castagnoli aired where he promised to teach a lesson to the young NJPW star.

Check out the post from NJPW below:

"Jon Moxley's 'emissary' for the Tokyo Dome January 5 is none other than Claudio Castagnoli! @shooter_us vs. @ClaudioCSRO at #wrestledynasty ?! #njpw #njWD."

AEW star Jon Moxley talks about his vision for the promotion

Jon Moxley has been seemingly trying to take over All Elite Wrestling for the past few months. The former WWE star has a vision for the promotion and plans to change the landscape of All Elite Wrestling. In a recent interview with CBS Sports, Jon Moxley addressed the state of All Elite Wrestling and vented his frustrations.

"I had a vision. A vision of a future. A vision that could be ours. That it could belong to everybody. A vision of a world where everyone can be successful. [...] One thing I found challenging in the previous iteration of AEW was, I found it challenging to find anyone who would take responsibility for anything. 'It's not my fault' was a thing that would be heard bouncing around the hallways of AEW quite ubiquitously," he said. [H/T - Fightful]

Fans will have to wait and see who challenges Jon Moxley for the AEW World Title after last night's Full Gear PPV.
