Kenny Omega breaks silence after getting into a brawl amidst AEW absence

Former AEW World Champion and EVP of the company Kenny Omega had to step away from the ring for a while due to health issues. During his in-ring hiatus, he was involved in a backstage brawl.

Kenny Omega hasn't competed in an AEW ring since December 2023 due to diverticulitis. For the past several months, he has been undergoing treatment and is still not cleared to compete.

His health didn't stop him from making an appearance at NJPW Power Struggle, yesterday where he told fans that he wanted to come back to New Japan Pro-Wrestling and was looking to compete at AEW X NJPW Wrestle Dynasty next year. Although nothing is confirmed, he has already informed Hiroshi Tanahashi that he wants to face one of the brand-new talents.

Following this segment, Omega was attacked backstage by Gabe Kidd and both men brawled in the backstage area. Following this incident, Omega broke his silence and told the fans that he doesn't know if he will be the same again but being in NJPW fuels him to be the best version of himself.

“Yeah. So I went out there not knowing what I was gonna say. Said what I said and I meant what I said. It’s been tough dealing with all of this, the injury, the sickness. But, I feel about ready to come back. For the fans here in Japan, for the fans worldwide, I want to make it something special. I want to come back to the place that made me me, the reason why a lot of people even know who I am is because of [NJPW]," said Kenny Omega.

The Best Bout Machine has spent a considerable period of his career in New Japan Pro-Wrestling. He told the Japanese fans that although he wasn't the same person they once knew he hoped to come back strong from his recent health issues and emulate a legend like Tanahashi. He praised the 47-year-old's fighting spirit and longevity in the business. He also told fans how he would love to come back and wrestle in an NJPW ring if they still wanted him.

"If I do come back, I’d love to come back for New Japan. I’m not who I used to be. I’m not sure what kind of person will be making a comeback but I’m going to give him my best shot. If guys like Tanahashi can go as long as he can go, I need to have that same spirit and fight and fight and fight and fight until I can’t fight anymore. Being here fuels me, being here makes me feel like a different person, makes me feel like I can be the best version of me that I can be. If you guys are willing to have me, I’d love to come back to New Japan. Until next time, whenever that may be, I bid you all ado, muah, goodnight, bang,” he added. [H/T: Fightful]

Kenny Omega has unfinished business with The Young Bucks

Kenny Omega made an appearance on AEW Dynamite earlier this year to address The Elite and ended up being confronted by the group.

The Elite brutally attacked the 41-year-old and took him out. Since then, Omega has not made a live appearance for the promotion. However, it looks like The Cleaner hasn't forgotten about this incident. Speaking on NJPW's YouTube channel, Omega said that he had "unfinished business" with The Young Bucks and the rest of the stable.

"We’ve got a lot of unfinished business. I’ve got unfinished business with the Bucks, I’ve got unfinished business with Jack Perry. I’ve got unfinished business with Okada, clearly," said Kenny Omega. [H/T: Fightful]
