Kenny Omega names surprising match as one of his favorites in NJPW
Kenny Omega was one of the biggest stars in NJPW several years ago. During this time, he competed against some of the best on the roster. He has now named his personal favorite matches.
Kenny Omega competed against the likes of Kazuchika Okada, Prince Devitt (now known as Finn Balor), and even Toru Yano during his time in NJPW. His matches were so good that he earned the nickname 'Best Bout Machine.' His days in NJPW were the pinnacle of his career and even he seems to think so.
Several years later, Omega is reflecting on some of the most memorable matches he had in the promotion. Among his favorites are his matches against Apollo 55 and his bout against Toru Yano which surprisingly made the list. He also named one of his matches against Kazuchika Okada as his favorite:
"My second selection. This might catch you guys off guard. It's my match against Toru Yano and people are gonna think, 'Kenny, you must've had more difficult opponents in your career? Why aren't you choosing them?' I will counter that argument with there is no more intellectual of a wrestler than Toru Yano. He takes you right out of your element and if it weren't for my experience in DDT, he might've caught me off guard in a big way. But I think we met each other on an even playing field and we had one for the ages." [1:09 - 1:44]
Kenny Omega issues statement about his in-ring future
Kenny Omega has been out of action since December 2023 due to diverticulitis. While he did make an appearance on AEW Dynamite earlier this year, he hasn't wrestled for the promotion in several months leaving fans worried about his future.
In a recent YouTube video which was uploaded to NJPW's channel, Omega said he won't be returning back to the ring anytime soon but if he was cleared to compete, he would compete at Wrestle Dynasty:
"If they cleared me tomorrow, I would be back in the ring. There’s a lot I don’t know right now, but I’d absolutely love to be on a stage like Wrestle Dynasty," said Omega.
All fans can do at this stage is wish Kenny Omega a speedy recovery and hope to see him back in the ring soon.
