Kenny Omega's return announced

Kenny Omega is undoubtedly a modern-day great. He is one of AEW's Executive Vice Presidents, alongside The Young Bucks and Michael Mansury. The former world champion is now set to return to a top promotion.

The Best Bout Machine is sidelined due to a medical condition known as diverticulitis, which causes an individual's large intestine to get inflamed. Omega has not wrestled since December 2023, but there is some positive news regarding his return.

NJPW Global's X/Twitter handle recently revealed that Omega will make his comeback in a different capacity. He will reunite with his long-time on-screen rival and real-life friend, Hiroshi Tanahashi. The video posted by the handle showcased the two stars coming face-to-face.

This reunion appears to be for a sit-down interview, where Omega and Tanahashi will reminisce about their time together in New Japan Pro-Westling.

Kenny Omega and Hiroshi Tanahashi have battled numerous times, delivering remarkable performances. Their best-known showdown came at Wrestle Kingdom 13, where Omega locked horns with The Ace of New Japan in the main event. Tanahashi dethroned The Best Bout Machine as the IWGP Heavyweight Champion.

Sean Ross Sapp provided a potential update on Kenny Omega's in-ring return

Earlier this year, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful revealed that the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion will not start wrestling again anytime soon. It will take a while for Omega to make his in-ring comeback because he wants to be completely fit.

"Not expected back in the coming months or anything like that. He [Kenny Omega] did have the surgery in order to check how things were progressing. This was something completely unforeseen. But knowing Kenny, he has got to heal up, get in shape, and then get into ring shape as well," said Sean Ross Sapp. [H/T: Ringside News]

When Omega finally returns, he may feud with The Elite since they assaulted him during his final appearance on AEW TV.
