Kenny Omega seemingly announces huge return; but not in AEW

Kenny Omega has been absent from the ring since last year. He recently teased a return to pro wrestling but his comeback might happen outside Tony Khan's AEW.

The Best Bout Machine was last seen wrestling against Ethan Page at Collision in December 2023. He was then diagnosed with a life-threatening health condition called Diverticulitis, which forced him to go on an immediate hiatus and the former world champion has been on the shelf ever since. He also had to go under the knife for the same.

After months of absence, Kenny Omega recently appeared at the NJPW Power Struggle event at the Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium, in Osaka on November 4, 2024, where he seemingly announced his huge return to the ring. He expressed his desire to return to action at NJPW Wrestle Dynasty in the Tokyo Dome scheduled for January 5, 2025.

Despite being an AEW star, he believes that New Japan Pro-Wrestling is still his home and wants to test himself against a new NJPW star upon his comeback. He was associated with the Japanese promotion for more than a decade.

Kenny Omega had to make sacrifices to fulfill his AEW duties

A few days ago, Kenny Omega had an interview with New Japan Pro-Wrestling. During the conversation, he revealed the sacrifices he made in AEW while he was trying to reunite wrestling lovers all over the world.

"I just wanted to help unite people all over the world, lovers of professional wrestling. People that have never watched wrestling and maybe could find a love for it and you know, did I sacrifice a bit of my physical and mental health for it? Sure," he said.

Apart from being a wrestler, The Cleaner is also one of the Executive Vice Presidents of AEW alongside The Young Bucks. He is also one of the stars who helped Tony Khan lay the foundation of the Jacksonville-based promotion.
