Kevin Owens references top AEW star following WWE SmackDown this week
Following his move to the SmackDown roster, Kevin Owens seemingly sent a heartfelt message to a certain AEW star who had an important surgery today. The star in question is former NXT Champion Adam Cole.
Tonight, after Jey Uso was announced to be moving to Monday Night RAW, the new SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis revealed Kevin Owens would be going to SmackDown from the trade.
In a backstage interview with Cathy Kelley that was not aired, KO talked about his move to SmackDown and his thoughts. He then gave a shout-out to a certain "Adam," who had a much-needed surgery earlier today.
"Before I go, I just want to say I have a friend named Adam who had a very serious surgery today. He's at the hospital now, recovering. I just wanna say, 'Adam, we love you. We're with you, and take care of yourself, buddy," Owens said. [1:44-1:57]
The pair got to work within the same promotions, appearing in ROH and PWG. The last time they shared the ring was at NXT War Games in 2019, when Kevin Owens was the surprise last member of Team Ciampa.
It was a classy move from Owens to shout out Adam Cole, which showed how wrestlers still support one another despite being in different promotions.
