Konnan against 3-time WWE champion potentially signing with AEW; thinks he will be "stuck in the mud"

Since the start of 2024, there have been rumors that former WWE star Shane McMahon would join AEW. He reportedly met Tony Khan in person a few days ago and, because of that, these rumors have gotten stronger. Recently, a picture of McMahon and Khan went viral on social media after the duo apparently had a meeting at Arlington Airport on July 29. Furthermore, this interaction was supposed to be private.

Fans are speculating that the son of WWE founder Vince McMahon will probably make his AEW debut at All In 2024, scheduled for August 25, 2024, at Wembley, London. Interestingly, Konnan believes that Shane's joining the Jacksonville-based promotion is imminent. However, if he does not possess any creative control it would be a waste of his potential.

"I don't think he would be taking pictures with Tony if they are not probably gonna do something. You would think that he did his due diligence and he still probably reads about the industry that he grew up in. He's gotta know that, you know, unless he has some sort of creative control, if he goes in there, there's a very good chance that he'll be stuck in the mud like most of the talent that goes nowhere storyline-wise," said Konnan. The 60-year-old Konnan is currently signed to Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide.
