Konnan addresses whether Chris Jericho could bury WWE veteran upon potential AEW debut
Wrestling veteran Konnan gave his thoughts on whether Chris Jericho will sabotage a recently departed former WWE Superstar if he debuts in AEW. The star being discussed is MVP.
The FTW Champion has been making headlines for his current gimmick, The Learning Tree. Chris, Big Bill, and Bryan Keith are mainstays of Dynamite and feature weekly on the flagship show.
Many fans felt MVP was one of the more underutilized stars during his first run in the Stamford-based promotion. The 50-year-old star then returned to the company at the 2020 Royal Rumble and ended up signing a deal with the Stamford-based promotion. He went on to manage Hurt Business in WWE. The faction found success during the pandemic era.
The group separated after a couple of years and the former United States Champion then managed Omos until early 2024. He wasn't seen in the promotion for months and recently was reported to have been removed from the internal roster. Earlier in January 2024, a story regarding MVP knocking out Chris Jericho resurfaced. The incident originally took place in 2020.
While speaking on Keeping It 100 OFFICIAL, when asked if Chris Jericho would sabotage MVP's potential run in AEW, Konnan claimed that The Learning Tree would bury the hatchet between him and MVP.
"I think Chris, to me, is the type of guy that 'Hey, we had a fight, it's squashed'. It wasn't like a long-term thing or anything, like he tried to hook up with his wife or something. You know, we had words, we fought, it's squashed," Konnan said. (00:42 - 00:58)
Disco Inferno thinks Chris Jericho deliberately sabotaged his recent match
On Blood and Guts: Dynamite, The FTW Champion faced NJPW legend Minoru Suzuki in a hard-hitting bout. Both the stars went on a chopping spree each almost half of the contest, with Chris Jericho picking up the victory subsequently.
While speaking on Keeping It 100 OFFICIAL, Disco Inferno said Chris intentionally had a bad match to trigger a response from Jim Cornette.
"Jericho is doing this intentionally to just troll the fans. This match was atrocious. But I think it was intentionally atrocious, and I think Jericho has literally did [sic] this match with Suzuki just to see what [Jim] Cornette would say about that, okay? Because this is hysterical, they sat there, chopped each other for literally like seven to eight minutes straight," he said.
It will be interesting to see if MVP makes his AEW debut at All In London later this month.
