Konnan believes AEW missed huge opportunity to elevate 32-year-old star

Wrestling veteran Konnan thinks AEW has mishandled a 32-year-old star by failing to legitimize her. The talent in question, Kamille, is currently involved in a program with Mercedes Mone (fka Sasha Banks).

The Brickhouse took a bold step by standing up to The CEO's humiliation and disrespect and quitting as her bodyguard last week on AEW Dynamite. However, she was found laid out backstage later on Rampage, and the reigning TBS Champion may have already teased her involvement in the assault, albeit not confirming it.

Discussing Kamille's recent booking on Keepin' It 100 OFFICIAL, Konnan re-iterated his previous perspective to insist that the Tony Khan-led company had failed to utilize the former NWA World Women's Champion properly as a bodyguard, evidently because Mercedes Mone's babyface title challengers did occasionally manage to overcome and outsmart her.

"They got to her too early and diluted her effectiveness," Konnan said. "Just about everybody, from Shida to Statlander to Britt Baker. Everybody got to her. That's not much of a bodyguard. Just like I said with Lashley and Swerve, I think her and Mone in a program is way too early." [H/T Wrestling Inc]

Regardless, Kamille has suffered only one loss in All Elite Wrestling—to former TBS Champion Kris Statlander on Fright Night Dynamite—having won all five of her previous matches since her debut in July.

Report on Kamille and Mercedes Mone's partnership dissolving in AEW

Kamille's split from Mercedes Mone last week on Dynamite seemed to be the culmination of weeks of tension between the two women. However, certain critical voices have pointed out that the dissolution of their partnership could have been booked with more time and attention.

Amidst speculations regarding the former NWA star's status in the company, Bryan Alvarez provided an update earlier in which he discussed why the angle of Kamille standing up to and cutting ties with The Boss had been executed so quickly, casting some doubt on future plans involving Mercedes and the North Carolina native in AEW.

It remains to be seen whether and when Kamille will return to All Elite Wrestling programming to confront her assailant.
