Konnan gives a major update on AEW's locker room morale amid Ricky Starks' uncertain future

Ricky Starks has not performed in AEW since March 2024, and there is no update on his potential return to the AEW ring. Amidst his uncertain future in Tony Khan's company, Konnan has commented on the atmosphere in AEW's locker room.

The Absolute Star was scheduled to wrestle at GCW's Highest in the Room 3 event on December 14 against Matt Cardona. However, Tony Khan pulled him from the upcoming event after GCW official Effy made some negative remarks about him and his father on a podcast.

After the AEW head pulled out this shocking move, many people have been questioning Khan's attitude as a leader and his unjust behavior towards Ricky Starks.

Speaking on the matter on the Keepin' It 100 OFFICIAL podcast, Konnan stated that the AEW stars have the freedom to express their feelings to Khan, but what the AEW CEO did to the Absolute star was wrong nonetheless.

He said, "What I know is that, AEW locker room, for the most part, they just want to get paid, and they don't want to get any heat with Tony if you know he gets mad, right? But I heard it is calmer, and I don't know what they thought backstage about [Rey] Fenix and Pentagon or Ricky Starks. I don't know, but I can imagine, bro, as a wrestler, when you see people being treated like that, you know you're going to think, 'Well, what a d**k." [From 0:55 to 1:25]

Is Ricky Starks returning to AEW television?

WrestleVotes on a recent edition of Backstage Pass gave an update on Ricky Starks contract situation with AEW. They informed the fans that Tony Khan had frozen him and decided to pay him to sit at home.

"I've heard that they are freezing him up. They're gonna pay him and let him sit at home. Whether that's right or wrong, that's up to whatever glasses you're looking at it through: if you're looking as an owner, that's the way Tony Khan feels, then nobody can really question him. If you're looking [at] it as Ricky Starks, like, I wanna wrestle, then I understand that [as well]."

Since his absence from AEW television, Starks has done a couple of indie shows. He is scheduled to wrestle against Mike Santana for the World Championship match at the HOG Watch The Throne event on January 17, 2025.
