Konnan lashes out at AEW for top star's "pathetic" booking; urges the company to pair him up with 268 lb wrestler
Konnan has lashed out at AEW for a top star's pathetic booking. He has urged the company to pair him up with a massive wrestler.
Lance Archer has all the makings to be a star. He is athletic and can wrestle better than most big guys. Archer is also a pretty good heel who is capable of getting heat on himself. Despite these skills, Archer is never seen as the top guy. Even in All Elite Wrestling, he started off hot but quickly fizzled out into obscurity.
Brian Cage has also suffered a similar fate. When he was part of Team Taz, his career was flourishing and he even won the FTW Championship. However, his size and athleticism have only managed to get him so far as poor booking decisions have massively damaged his growth.
Speaking on his Keepin' It 100 podcast. Konnan lashed out at AEW for the way that have booked Lance Archer and Brian Cage. He also suggested that they should form a team and gain some momentum:
"That's exactly how they've been booking Lance Archer since he got there. It's pathetic bro, because the guy's a very professional good guy, can go and they're doing it again. Same thing with Brian Cage. I mean, you know, he always has a great match but always loses to the name guy. He'll beat some no name nobody which does him no good especially he looks like a star, built like a beast and all you got to do is just feature them. Put them in a couple rivalries where they go over and they're memorable and you tell a good story and get them over." [1:24 - 2:00]
Lance Archer recently returned to AEW Dynamite and lost to Will Ospreay
Lance Archer had been absent from AEW television for several months but made his return recently on the 31st July edition of Dynamite against Will Ospreay. However, he didn't gain any momentum.
It took Will Ospreay just 11 minutes to defeat Lance Archer in the ring. This loss also ended Archer's five-match winning streak he had going on between AEW and ROH before his absence from the company.
It remains to be seen if Lance Archer will be given more opportunities to showcase his skills in the future.
