Konnan questions top star's recent AEW appearance - "That's not the right guy to send out there"

WCW veteran Konnan has slammed AEW for sending out a notable star during a segment on Dynamite. The star is none other than Rush.

MJF made his huge return to AEW at the Double or Nothing PPV. The Salt of the Earth appeared on Dynamite a couple of days later, where he cut a heated promo. However, the segment was interrupted by Rush, and both men exchanged heated words before getting into an explosive brawl. Maxwell Jacob Friedman and Rush will settle their differences in a singles match at the upcoming Forbidden Door PPV.

Speaking on the Keepin' It 100 podcast, Konnan explained why Rush is the wrong opponent for MJF. The veteran pointed out his poor English-speaking skills but praised the Mexican star for being a great heel.

"Dude, I mean Rush is the wrong guy who can't speak cause he calls him M 'yay' F. He's the wrong guy to go tit-for-tat with this guy. I know that he wants to go out there and speak English because he knows that the promo time is gonna help him but if your English is not that good, you should not be going out there. The first thing he did and he destroyed him was 'I don't know what you said, does anybody else know?' and everybody just popped. That's not the right guy to send out there. But, the good thing is, Rush is a hell of a heel, loves being a heel, and knows how to be a heel so the match would be good." [From 05:25 to 06:10]

Teddy Long says MJF vs. Swerve Strickland will happen soon in AEW

MJF put everyone, including AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland, on notice during his return to Dynamite. Swerve won the title at AEW Dynasty; however, he has been getting very little TV time.

Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Wrestling Time Machine podcast, Teddy Long stated that Swerve Strickland should get his deserved TV time. The former SmackDown GM further said that the feud between MJF and Swerve Strickland will happen soon.

"Of course they are gonna do that. (MJF vs. Swerve feud) Okay? Nothing against MJF, I love him. he's a great guy. He is one of the few guys that... he knows how to wrestle, plus he is an entertainer. That's good for him. He don't need no manager, he don't need no mouthpiece, he can do it all for himself, and that's absolutely great. And if I was gonna put it on anybody, MJF would certainly be the guy 'cause he could carry it. But... you crowned a guy your champion, you gotta give him TV time." [5:04 onwards]

MJF is currently set to take on Rush at the Forbidden Door. It will be interesting to see if The Salt of the Earth goes after Swerve Strickland after the pay-per-view.
