Konnan urges Tony Khan to hire WWE veteran and have him join AEW's creative team

Wrestling veteran Konnan has urged AEW CEO Tony Khan to add WWE veteran Vince Russo to his company's creative team. Vince Russo has experience working for the creative teams of many major wrestling promotions. He was a part of the Stamford-based promotion's creative team as their lead writer during the Attitude Era.

Russo has also worked for WCW and TNA Wrestling. Meanwhile, AEW has stayed under the leadership of Tony Khan ever since the company started in 2019. However, Khan has welcomed some great minds to his creative team in recent years, such as Bryan Danielson, Dean Malenko, Jimmy Jacobs, and more.

Speaking on his Keepin' It 100 podcast, Konnan explained how Tony Khan could divide his three major shows (Dynamite, Collision, and Rampage) between experienced veterans like Vince Russo and Jeff Jarrett. The veteran noted that Khan should fire them if they didn't bring great results in six months.

"He's [Tony Khan] doing three shows, and I've always said, 'Give one show to Vince Russo. Give one show to Jeff Jarret; give one show to three different guys, and then let them do those shows, and if they don't give you results in six months, get rid of them and put somebody else!' You don't have to do everything!" Konnan said. [0:58 - 1:35]

Vince Russo recently offered to work as a producer for AEW

Former WWE head writer Vince Russo wrote some great storylines during the Attitude Era. This week's AEW Dynamite drew the lowest ratings for a Dynamite in recent memory. The veteran writer took cognizance of this and sent an interesting message to the Jacksonville-based promotion.

On X, Russo offered his services to Tony Khan to lead AEW as the head writer and Producer. Russo noted that the USA Network took advantage of his skills in the past and urged Khan to do the same.

"Not just anybody can be a successful head writer/producer. It actually does take more skill than booking fantasy wrestling at 12 years old. You [Tony Khan] need help. It's not even a question. My consulting services are always available. @USANetwork took advantage of them in the past, and you can too. Smart men are humble men!" a part of his post read.

Tony Khan is the current head booker of All Elite Wrestling. It will be interesting to see if he reacts to Russo's latest offer.
