Legend who last wrestled for WWE in 2014 is seemingly interested in facing Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam this year
A legend has seemingly entertained the idea of facing the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes at the SummerSlam Premium Live Event this year.
Rob Van Dam has not wrestled for WWE in almost a decade. His last match took place on the August 29, 2014, episode of SmackDown, where he faced Seth "Freakin" Rollins in a losing effort.
The ECW legend made several appearances for the Stamford-based promotion from 2019-2023, which included his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame. However, it did not lead to his in-ring return.
RVD was originally planned for a match at WrestleMania XL in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but those plans fell through after he showed up in All Elite Wrestling.
Earlier today, the 53-year-old performer "liked" an X/Twitter post about potentially challenging Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at SummerSlam this year.

Not too long ago, Rob Van Dam hinted at potentially returning to WWE in 2024. He most recently wrestled for AEW on the go-home episode of Rampage before the Dynasty Pay-Per-View. Is RVD gearing up for one last WWE run? Only time will tell.

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson confronted Cody Rhodes on the fallout episode of RAW after WrestleMania XL and laid his eyes on the latter's Undisputed WWE Championship.
The Final Boss had to take a brief hiatus to begin filming for his upcoming movie, The Smashing Machine, but assured that he would be back to pick things up where he left off with The American Nightmare.
While speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW podcast, former WWE head writer Vince Russo said WWE was building towards a blockbuster match between The Rock and Cody Rhodes at the SummerSlam Premium Live Event this year.
"SummerSlam... Bro, this is getting set up, Rock and Cody. I mean, they are the ones slapping each other. I'm watching that promo on SmackDown and I'm like that's where they're going with this," Vince Russo said. [From 21:53 onwards]
