Long-rumored Cody Rhodes’ feud nixed as former WWE Champion will miss WrestleMania 41, says veteran
WWE veteran Matt Hardy has had his say on WWE possibly scrapping the feud between Cody Rhodes and The Rock. The two stars had a heartfelt interaction on RAW this past Monday.
Rhodes and The Rock were on a warpath on the Road to WrestleMania last year. There were a lot of personal insults in the process and it looked like the two stars were going to take on each other, possibly at WrestleMania 41, with The Final Boss hinting that when he returned he was going to go after Rhodes. However, on RAW, The Rock publicly praised Cody Rhodes.
Former AEW star Matt Hardy thought that WWE may have scrapped the feud between the two. Speaking on his Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, he said that one could tell WWE had dropped the idea.
“Yeah, you can just tell they were totally dropping it. Just totally dropping it. This is done. We have moved past it. Next.” [45:38 - 45:48]
He was then asked by the host if The Rock won't be wrestling at WrestleMania to which he replied that he didn't so.
“No, I don't think so. I think he will be there. I think he will appear but he is not going to be wrestling regularly.” [45:53 - 46:05]
Cody Rhodes has to overcome a huge obstacle at the Royal Rumble
Cody Rhodes achieved the impossible when he defeated Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 to become the new WWE Champion. He did that against all odds and one of the stars that helped him out was Seth Rollins.
Another star who stood by his side through thick and thin was Kevin Owens. The two stars were great friends and joined hands multiple times to take on The Bloodline. However, Kevin Owens has since turned his back on The American Nightmare and attacked him in a parking lot brawl after Bad Blood where Rhodes teamed up with Roman Reigns against Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu.
The rivalry has since taken some ugly turns with Rhodes receiving a package piledriver at the hands of Owens. The two men are now set to clash at the Royal Rumble in a Ladder match.
Given how vicious and determined Kevin Owens seems, Rhodes may not make it to 'Mania with the Undisputed WWE Title around his shoulder.
