Major AEW star claims he is "Ric Flair incarnated," but there's a twist
A top AEW star recently compared himself to Ric Flair and made a huge claim. The star being discussed is MJF.
The Nature Boy is one of the few wrestlers who has put the pro wrestling industry on the map and his popularity has been off the charts for decades now. In 2023, he signed a deal with the Jacksonville-based promotion and was a major part of Sting's last AEW run. Not seen since The Icon's retirement, the legend is reportedly done with the company.
The current International Champion has been climbing to the top of the mountain since returning in May. He went on to clash with Ospreay, who has been the top babyface since March. The Wolf of Wrestling wrestled for almost an hour against Ospreay on the Dynamite 250 episode. After a ruthless battle, he finally dethroned the latter and won the International Championship.
After MJF's huge victory, Ric Flair congratulated him on Twitter by posting both of their pictures, implying a similarity between the two. While speaking with Sports Illustrated, The Salt of the Earth talked about The Nature Boy posting the picture and said he was Flair incarnated, but only better than him.
“There’s a reason that after my match, Ric Flair posted a side-by-side comparison photo. I’m Ric Flair incarnated, and with all due respect to Ric, better,” he said. [H/T - Sports Illustrated]
WWE veteran thinks Ric Flair should step away from wrestling business
The Nature Boy has been in the pro wrestling industry for almost five decades. He recently departed from the Jacksonville-based promotion.
While speaking on Storytime with Dutch Mantell, the veteran claimed that Flair had very few skills required in today's wrestling business and shouldn't get involved much.
"Nothing. He couldn't even book because he doesn't understand basic booking and he doesn't have the patience for it. I'm sure if he was backstage watching something, and they didn't do exactly what he thought they should do, I think he'd have a heart attack before anything else. But, he has very few skills needed now in the wrestling business," he said.
It will be interesting to see what is next for the 75-year-old star.
