Major setback for AEW regarding Grand Slam: Australia 2025
AEW Grand Slam: Australia 2025 is set to take on Saturday, February 15th at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane, Queensland. It will be the Jacksonville-based company's first event in the land down under.
Tony Khan's All Elite Wrestling has held the Grand Slam event annually for the last four years. This year's Grand Slam began on Wednesday, September 25 at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, New York City. The two-night event starts with Wednesday Night Dynamite this week and will conclude when the Collision taping of the show airs this Saturday.
Speaking on the September 26 edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed how AEW Grand Slam is doing ticket sales-wise. According to the renowned wrestling journalist, the company's ticket sales for the Australia event are "not good:"
"[The Grand Slam Australia ticket sales are] Not good... Stadium shows are tough. It's not England where they have like a very large fanbase. You have all of Europe to draw from as well. This is Australia and the only place you can sort of draw from is maybe New Zealand. It's not like Japan is close. Not a lot of countries are close," said Meltzer. [From 51:08 to 52:50]
Buddy Matthews along with other top names added to AEW Grand Slam: Australia 2025 new and updated poster
When AEW released the official poster for Grand Slam: Australia 2025, some major stars were missing from it. One among them was Buddy Matthews. The House of Balck member was not happy with the fact that the Jacksonville-based promotion didn't add him to the poster.
Tony Khan took note of his dissatisfaction and added him to the new and updated poster for the event. Other stars like Ricochet, Kyle Fletcher, Jay White, and the rest of the House of Black members were also added to it.
