Male star issues public apology to AEW's Mercedes Mone
AEW star Mercedes Mone got a public apology from a male star, taking a lot of people by surprise. What preceded the public gesture might seem amusing to some.
Rocky Romero is the Vice President of Show & Talent Coordination and takes care of what happens backstage. He is primarily responsible for liaising and negotiating for stars wanting to go to different promotions for appearances. Mercedes Mone recently stated that she would appear at a CMLL event last month.
However, that did not happen as Romero missed a few important calls regarding setting up her appearance as he was too tired and jet-lagged in Japan. He then issued a public apology to the AEW TBS Champion in an interview with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp. He also noted that he had already apologized in person to Mone.
"I know. I apologize. I saw her yesterday. I apologized to her. It was so funny. It was like 4 or 5 AM. I was in Japan. So I was doing my best, I promise. I was doing my best. It was very last second. She's like, ‘I would love to do something.’ So I reached out to CMLL immediately and was hoping to get some kind of response back and while waiting for the response, sometimes you're really tired and jet-lagged. I may have missed a call, but yeah, the panic that was on my face, when I woke up and to all these missed calls, I'm sweating. I'm like, ‘What is—oh, no, no, no.’ I totally fell asleep. So, yeah, I dropped the ball. But good thing it wasn’t a major, major CMLL show. It was like an outside show and it wasn't like Arena Mexico or something like that. But it would have been cool. So sorry, Mercedes," he said. [H/T: Fightful]

Eric Bischoff thinks Mercedes Mone has damaged her brand
Eric Bischoff is one of the most outspoken critics of AEW and he barely ever holds back. He talks about Tony Khan most of the time but this time he spoke about Mercedes Mone.
The TBS Champion has seemingly been blowing hot and cold ever since she joined the company and the WWE Hall of Famer has now claimed that she may have damaged her own brand. He was speaking on his 83 Weeks podcast when he said:
"Now they're [WWE stars] moving over to AEW where, quite frankly, I think Mercedes Mone's character has just taken a giant hit. Her brand has been severely damaged as a result of being involved with AEW television."
It will be interesting to see what Mone’s reaction will be to these claims made by the veteran Bischoff.
