Mariah May eyes dual championship in high-stakes match; claims 'can walk around with two belts'
Mariah May has recently hinted at going after a second championship belt, and she claimed that she could do this at any moment. She also teased facing off with a top AEW star to achieve this. This would be Mercedes Moné.
The CEO is currently a double champion. She holds both the TBS and NJPW Strong Women's Championship. She won her first title during her debut match and captured her second just two months later. There has yet to be someone on the roster who has put her title reigns in jeopardy.
While appearing on The Figure 4 podcast, Mariah May confirmed that she had thought of Mercedes Moné as someone she wanted to face in the future. She brought up how Moné had two belts, and how she could easily do something similar on her own, being the winner of the last Owen Hart Foundation Tournament.
"[Moné] knows where I am," May said. "I have another belt too, so if she wants to parade around with her two belts, I can get my own belt because she wasn't even in that. I won that [Owen Hart Foundation] Tournament. I can walk around with two belts. I'd love to hate you, Mercedes. I'd love to love you, Mercedes."
Later on in the podcast, May also mentioned how she'd love to face Kris Statlander. She claimed that she was open to facing anyone she had never beaten before, as she was looking for her next major rival. She urged anyone from the locker room who wanted to face her to simply come out and try.
"Anyone I haven't beaten yet, I'd like to add to that list," May said. "Like I said, I'm looking for my next great rival. I'm looking for a girl to come into their own and show themselves against me, so if there's the next big star in that locker room, I'm the woman to try. Come on, I'm waiting." [H/T - WrestlingInc.]
Mariah May was recently pinned for the first time in 4 months
After entering the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, Mariah May has been on a roll. She ended up winning the whole thing, earned a women's world title shot, and eventually dethroned Toni Storm for the title after turning on her mentor.
Almost two weeks ago, she found herself in an eliminator match against Anna Jay for her AEW Women's World Championship. In a shocking turn of events, she lost via a roll-up pin. This was Mariah May's first loss since June, and this meant that Jay had earned herself a future title shot.
This match is set for next week's edition of AEW Collision, with Anna Jay looking to be the one to end The Glamour's hot streak.
