Mariah May and Tony Schiavone were disrespected by the press after WrestleDream, feel legends (Exclusive)
Wrestling industry veterans Bill Apter and Teddy long believe AEW's Mariah May and Tony Schiavone were not given respect at the WrestleDream press conference. Mariah May is the current Women's World Champion.
At AEW WrestleDream, Mariah May retained her Women's World Championship after a hard-hitting battle against Willow Nightingale. However, many have been talking about The Glamour's appearance at the post-WrestleDream press conference where the women's champion was barely questioned by journalists.
In a recent chat on Sportskeeda's exclusive The Wrestling Time Machine podcast hosted by Mac Davis, Senior Editor Bill Apter revealed that he didn't understand why the journalists wouldn't ask questions from Mariah at the press conference. He noted how Tony Schiavone was also visibly upset by their behavior.
"I have no idea. She came along with her attitude, which is her character, and the match was great. She was willing to answer questions and the assembled press was just like, 'Nobody has any questions.' Tony [Schiavone] kept saying questions, Mariah's right here, the AEW World Women's Champion. You could see that Tony Schiavone was kinda like scratching his head. Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez were asking questions to a lot of other talent but nobody had anything for her. It was strictly her." [5:56 - 8:34]
Willow Nightingale wants Mariah May's spot in AEW
Willow Nightingale suffered a major loss against Mariah May when she lost to her in the finals of the Women's Owen Hart Foundation tournament. The Glamour would go on to defeat Toni Storm to win the AEW Women's Championship at All In.
In a recent exclusive interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling's Bill Apter, Willow Nightingale spoke about the rise of Mariah May in the All Elite Wrestling women's division. Willow said that Mariah has a target on her back and all female stars are trying to get her spot in the division.
"I mean, she beat me, so! You spend time in the ring with someone and you learn a lot about them in a very short amount of time. I would say she is cunning, and that is probably her biggest strength. She is at the helm of the division right now, and so she is the one with the target on her back. We're all trying to get her spot." [3:21 – 3:50]
Fans will have to wait and see which female star dethrones The Glamour for the AEW Women's World Championship.
