Mark Henry fires back at major accusation after leaving AEW
WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry recently responded to a fan's accusation on X/Twitter. The World's Strongest Man officially departed AEW today.
The former World Heavyweight Champion signed with All Elite Wrestling in 2021 as a talent scout and broadcaster. Surprisingly, he did not have a match during his tenure with the company. Mark Henry recently announced that he chose not to renew his contract with AEW, as he was aiming to focus on external projects. The veteran confirmed that there was no bad blood between him and Tony Khan.
On X/Twitter, a fan accused Mark Henry of being a traitor for leaving AEW and lambasting the company's product. The Hall of Famer was quick to fire back at the person, explaining the difference between trashing and criticizing.
"You confuse critiquing with trashing because you don’t know what you’re talking about just because you watch something don’t mean you know it. I’ve seen surgeries but I can’t do it," wrote Henry.
Mark Henry thinks Velveteen Dream should get a second chance
Former NXT North American Champion Velveteen Dream was one of the most promising stars in the Stamford-based promotion between 2017 and 2019. Dream was in line to become a major name once he possibly moved up to the main roster. However, the allegations against him in 2020 tarnished his professional wrestling career. He was released by WWE on May 20, 2021.
During a virtual signing with K&S Wrestlefest, Mark Henry said Velveteen Dream should get a second chance in pro wrestling.
"My wildcard would probably be Velveteen Dream [when asked to pick someone to join a modern-day Nation of Domination], would be Patrick. I think it’s time for his second chance. A lot of people in the world of wrestling love the talent. We’re in a cancel culture that is justified as so. We need a cancel culture. But, at some point, you gotta have grace and forgiveness and you gotta see if that person is gonna bury themselves again because habitual line steppers, that’s exactly who they are."
In February 2024, Velveteen Dream wrestled his first match in over three years. He defeated Alec Odin in a one-on-one bout at Dynasty: It Was All a Dream. It will be interesting to see whether WWE would give the former NXT star a second chance.
