Massive match for Death Triangle announced outside AEW
AEW's partnerships with other wrestling companies are flourishing in 2024, and the talent trades with historic Mexican promotion CMLL continue to provide blockbuster matchups. The recently reunited Death Triangle has now been booked for a major match outside All Elite Wrestling.
Death Triangle was formed back in March 2020 when PAC allied with Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix, the Lucha Bros. The three are former AEW Trios World Champions, but their run has been hampered over time by Covid, injuries, and visa issues. The three reunited at Double or Nothing 2024 but unfortunately lost their Trios Championship match against The Bang Bang Gang. However, with all three members now healthy, it seems that they're ready to fly again.
CMLL just announced that PAC, Penta, and Fenix will compete in Arena Mexico against top stars Místico, Volador Jr. & Máscara Dorada. The match will take place this Friday, July 26.
AEW International Champion MJF set to make CMLL debut
AEW has hosted several of CMLL's top stars on its weekly TV shows, as well as at this year's Forbidden Door pay-per-view. The Jacksonville-based promotion has also sent the likes of Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson down to Mexico City to compete for the Lucha promotion.
Now, another major star is set to make his Arena Mexico debut. MJF won the International Championship from Will Ospreay in an acclaimed match last Wednesday on Dynamite. Despite wrestling for nearly an hour, the former AEW World Champion is not going to rest on his laurels.
Following last week's show, The Wolf of Wrestling sent a message to CMLL, announcing that he would defend his newly won title in Mexico. The promotion has made it official, and MJF is now set to compete in Arena Mexico on Friday, August 2.
It's unclear who Maxwell might face, but after his grueling match against Will Ospreay, there's no doubt he will fight tooth and nail to keep his championship.
