Massive reunion teased in AEW
AEW may have teased a massive reunion on its programming as two former-friends-turned-rivals crossed paths once again on the latest episode of Rampage. The show in question aired from the Entertainment & Sports Arena in Washington, D.C., and was taped after this week's episode of Dynamite.
The Holiday Bash edition of AEW Rampage featured a backstage segment with Renee Paquette interviewing the ever-popular Willow Nightingale. The Babe with The Power voiced her excitement regarding her participation in the International Women's Cup match at Wrestle Dynasty next year in the Tokyo Dome, an opportunity she earned by beating Serena Deeb and Jamie Hayter in a qualifier tournament this month.
Nightingale's interview would be interrupted, surprisingly, by Kris Statlander, who wished her former friend the best for her bout on January 5. The 29-year-old star also alluded to having things that she ought say to Nightingale, referencing her betrayal of the latter after her TBS Title loss to Mercedes Mone at Double or Nothing.
Statlander, aligned with heel manager Stokely Hathaway, feuded with Nightingale and faced her in three singles matches since then, defeating her in a Chicago Street Fight in their last bout at All Out 2024. AEW would later inexplicably split up Statlander and Stokely - a decision which Born Again Kristen explained some time earlier, claiming that she had been "led down the wrong path" and was looking to course-correct.
It remains to be seen whether the developments on Rampage: Holiday Bash leads to Statlander and Nightingale renewing their partnership.
