Massive setback strikes Tony Khan and AEW as Full Gear 2024 approaches
AEW faced huge complications days before the Full Gear pay-per-view. The latest edition of Dynamite was the go-home edition of the show before this weekend’s Full Gear 2024 event. The card for PPV is stacked with high-stakes matches featuring top stars. Even Dynamite was filled with good matches.
The show opened with an eight-man tag team action where Konosuke Takeshita, Kyle Fletcher, Lance Archer, and Brian Cage defeated Powerhouse Hobbs, Ricochet, Will Ospreay, and Mark Davis. The electric bout was followed by Kris Statlander vs. Hikaru Shida, where the former picked up a hard-fought victory. Also, Bobby Lashley made his AEW in-ring debut in a Handicap Match.
Later, The Death Riders' Claudio Castagnoli successfully crushed Darby Allin. In the main event of the night, Orange Cassidy defeated Wheeler Yuta in an excellent match. The go-home show ended with the Freshley Squeezed standing tall despite The Death Riders' assault.
As per Wrestlenomics, the latest edition of Dynamite drew 640,000 average viewers and was rated 0.20 among the 18-49 demographics. This number is lower than the previous one, as last week, the flagship show garnered 666,000 total audience, with ratings also being 0.22 in the standard demo.
It remains to be seen what goes down at AEW Full Gear pay-per-view this Saturday.
