Massive setback for The Elite in AEW
One of the members of The Elite suffered a major upset during their match earlier tonight on AEW Collision. This adds to the group's not-so-great form in the last few weeks.
The Young Bucks are working from home amid the chaos in the company. Jack Perry recently lost his TNT Championship, which was a major blow to the faction. Meanwhile, Kazuchika Okada is constantly representing The Elite, as he is competing in the Continental Classic Tournament.
Tonight, Okada was in a match against Kyle Fletcher as part of the Blue League of the C2. The Rainmaker was at four points, while The Protostar was leading the group with six points heading into the contest.
It was a well-matched bout between the two, and neither one was willing to back down. At a point in the bout, it seemed as if The Rainmaker was going for the win, but they got too close to the referee.
When the official had his back turned, Fletcher hit Okada a low blow, opening him up to deliver a Brainbuster for the win.
Following an upset win, Kyle Fletcher dominantly leads the Blue League with nine points, and not a single loss. Meanwhile, Okada has dropped to the middle of the group with his first defeat of the tournament. It remains to be seen how The Elite plans to recover from the setback.
