Mercedes Mone advised to immediately drop her finishing move in AEW
Mercedes Mone's finisher in AEW is called the ''Mone Maker'' which is a Special Spun into a DDT. She has had a variety of finishers throughout her extensive decade-long career.
Mone has been a fighting champion and has defended her TBS Championship against many opponents like Hikaru Shida, Kris Statlander, Britt Baker, and more. This week on Dynamite: Holiday Bash, she put her title on the line against Anna Jay and successfully retained it.
Speaking on the December 19th edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer commented on Mercedes Mone's match against Anna Jay and asserted it was a good bout. But he added that The CEO should immediately drop her current finisher Mone Maker and start using the Statement Maker as her new finisher in AEW.
"It [the match] was good. But she still needs to change that finish though. That [Statement maker] should be her finisher because people get really into the finish and they expect a finish. Even with Anna Jay, she did good but when she's wrestling someone like Kris Statlander and Nightingale it never looks good. So just drop it." [ From 48:30 to 48:56]
Former WWE Superstar Mercedes Mone claps back at a fan
Mercedes Mone has often stated that she's doing pretty well in AEW. However, some critics have scrutinized her ever since she made her move to AEW. During a recent Instagram live session, a fan commented that Mone's shift from WWE to AEW was a downgrade.
Former Sasha Banks didn't appreciate the snarky comment and immediately clapped back at her hater, saying that she's doing much better in AEW:
“I just saw someone say, ‘Downgrade has to be studied. B****, I’m richer than I’ve ever f***** been. Putting on the greatest matches that I’ve ever had! So shut the f— up. I hate stupid people. I’m living my best life, the greatest life ever! It’s an upgrade, baby. I went forward, I didn’t go back. It’s the best feeling ever to be rich in spirit, rich in your bank account, and rich in life. It’s the best.”
The former WWE star left the Stamford-based company in 2022. Before she joined AEW in 2024, she spent some time in the East. The CEO debuted for AEW on March 13, 2024, of Dynamite: Big Business.
