Mercedes Mone called out for a Submission match by a former WWE star she has never faced before

After appearing at last year's All In pay-per-view, Mercedes Mone is all set to compete at this year's event at Wembley Stadium in London. Ahead of her match, The CEO was recently called out for a submission match by a former WWE star, who Mone never faced before.

Prior to joining AEW, Deonna Purrazzo worked for the WWE under the NXT banner for a while. However, her stint in the company wasn't as successful and she left to join TNA in 2020, where he did quite well for herself. When she first signed with All Elite Wrestling, she was put in a storyline against Toni Storm. The two women faced off a couple of times with The Timeless star coming out on top. Since then, she has been competing on Collision and recently faced off against Thunder Rosa. Despite not winning the AEW Women's Championship, she has her eyes set on another title.

During a recent interview with Stephanie Chase, Deonna Purrazzo mentioned that she has never shared the locker room with Mercedes Mone and hence, has never faced her. She also mentioned it would be her dream to have a submission match against the TBS Champion.

"We had never crossed paths before. Obviously, we knew each other and if I was up for RAW or SmackDown or was an extra, we would say hello, but in terms of getting to know each other and sharing a locker room with each other, wrestling each other, that’s never happened. I feel that’s on the bucket list for me. My dream match with her [Mercedes Mone] would be a submission match. We both cemented our careers on kind of being submission specialists. She has won championships all over the world with her submission, and so have I. If we were to work together, that would be my ultimate match, a submission match with Mercedes Mone." [H/T Fightful]

Tony Khan makes massive announcement about Mercedes Mone

Mercedes Mone joined AEW in March 2024 and since then she has had a quite successful run in the promotion. After defeating Willow Nightingale to capture the TBS Title, Mone faced then-Strong Women's Champion Stephanie Vaquer at Forbidden Door in a Winner Takes All Match. The CEO was able to defeat Vaquer and now is a double champion.

The former Sasha Banks is set to defend her TBS Title against Britt Baker at AEW All In. However, on a recent episode of Collision, Hikaru Shida challenged Mone for the title. Following this incident, Tony Khan took to social media to make the match official for the upcoming edition of Dynamite.

"TBS Championship @MercedesVarnado vs @shidahikaru Shida made the challenge tonight on #AEWCollision! Now it's TBS Title: Shida/Moné WEDNESDAY Winner defends vs Dr @RealBrittBaker at #AEWAllIn!"
