Mercedes Mone (fka Sasha Banks) breaks silence on her title win at AEW Double or Nothing
Newly crowned AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mone (fka Sasha Banks) finally broke her silence after her major title win at Double or Nothing. The CEO shared a heartfelt post on her social media handles with pictures of her as the champion.
Mercedes made her blockbuster AEW debut in March 2024. However, fans had to wait a few months for The CEO's maiden in-ring performance in Tony Khan's promotion. Nonetheless, the 32-year-old finally made her All Elite in-ring debut at the recent Double or Nothing pay-per-view.
The former WWE Women's Champion challenged Willow Nightingale for the TBS Title at Double or Nothing. The match was fantastic, and it ended with Mercedes capturing her maiden championship in the Jacksonville-based promotion.
Following her TBS Championship win, Mercedes took to her Instagram handle to share pictures of her with the gold. The former WWE Superstar also penned a heartfelt caption to celebrate her triumph.
"Words can’t describe this feeling. It’s good to be back. And it’s really good to be a champion!" she wrote.
WWE legend claims Mercedes Mone's buzz in AEW is gone
Although there was so much hype before the imminent debut of Mercedes Mone in Tony Khan's promotion, WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff has reckoned that her buzz has diminished due to poor booking.
Speaking on his 83 Weeks podcast, the former RAW General Manager claimed that poor decision-making from day one had ''taken all the gas out of'' Mone's tank.
"It's flat. Nobody cares. Her [Mercedes Mone] buzz is absolutely gone; it was self-inflicted; poor booking; just poor decision-making from day one until now. It's horrible! Mercedes herself, sure she had some influence over how she was going to be used. Whatever decisions were made collectively or independently of each other, they have taken all the gas out of her tank," he said.
It will be interesting to see how the former Sasha Banks fares in her reign as AEW TBS Champion.
