Mercedes Mone to join The Elite in a major angle, according to veteran, by replacing top AEW star
Wrestling veteran Disco Inferno has suggested that The Elite should replace AEW star Jack Perry with The CEO, Mercedes Mone. Jack Perry made his AEW return at Dynasty 2024, where he seemingly joined The Elite after helping The Young Bucks become the World Tag Team Champions.
At the Dynamite post-Dynasty PPV, Tony Khan reinstated Jack Perry to the promotion. However, the 26-year-old quickly showed his true colors and attacked Khan. The Young Bucks came out to further assault the AEW President and took him out with a TK Driver.
Speaking on 'Keepin' It 100, Disco Inferno stated that Jack Perry does not fit in The Elite. He suggested that the faction should bring in Mercedes Mone and combine The Elite with The CEO.
"Dude, Jack Perry, this spot is not for him. You know who they [The Elite] should bring in? They're [The Young Bucks] the EVPs, so they should just combine with The CEO and bring in Mercedes [Mone]. That's like the EVPs and The CEO!" he said. [8:15 - 8:31]
Mercedes Mone has been showing some heelish tactics as of late on Dynamite. It will be interesting to see if she turns heel in the coming weeks. The former WWE Superstar will challenge Willow Nightingale for the TBS Championship at Double or Nothing.
Jim Ross had a hand in Jack Perry's new gimmick in AEW
Jim Ross is one of the most experienced veterans in professional wrestling. He has helped many talents find their right gimmicks, and it seems like the veteran was responsible for grooming Jack Perry.
The Scapegoat made his way over to New Japan Pro Wrestling after he was suspended by AEW in August 2023 due to a backstage altercation with CM Punk at the All In pay-per-view. Perry reinvented himself in Japan and recently made his return to All Elite Wrestling, where he cemented his heel turn by joining The Elite.
Speaking on the Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross revealed that he urged Tony Khan to change Jack Perry's gimmick. The veteran went on to praise Jungle Boy for being a good heel.
"I thought that at some point in time for him [Jack Perry] to grow and become the star that he is today, he needed to be Jack Perry. Good name; a really good name, and I like that kid. I'm sorry that he had so many issues. There were some his doing [sic], and some that weren't, but I'm a big fan of his work, and he's made himself into a really good pro wrestling heel," Jim Ross said. [From 3:28 to 4:23]
The Elite (Matthew Jackson, Nicholas Jackson, Jack Perry, and Kazuchika Okada) have been causing havoc in All Elite Wrestling. The villainous stable will face Team AEW (Bryan Danielson, Darby Allin, Dax Harwood, and Cash Wheeler) in the Anarchy in The Arena Match at Double or Nothing 2024.
