Mercedes Mone names 38-year-old WWE Superstar as one of her strongest opponents
AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mone (fka Sasha Banks) recently disclosed the strongest opponent she has ever faced. The star being discussed is Charlotte Flair.
Since signing with AEW earlier this year, The CEO has been leading the women's locker room to another level. She is enjoying her time in the promotion as TBS Champion and has wrestled top-notch matches. Although she is thriving in the Jacksonville-based promotion right now, Mercedes Mone had many great feuds in WWE.
Mone's feud with former WWE SmackDown Women's Champion Charlotte Flair is well known among fans. The duo wrestled each other multiple times during their time in the Stamford-based promotion. They were also part of the company's Four Horsewomen.
In the latest edition of her Mone Mag, Mercedes Mone praised The Queen and named her as the strongest opponent she has ever faced in the squared circle.
"Without a doubt, Charlotte takes the top spot. This woman doesn’t even know her own strength! She’s a super athlete, and I honestly think she’s still discovering just how physically powerful she is. Charlotte is one of those wrestlers who can throw you around the ring without you even needing to assist," she wrote. [H/T Fightful]
She also named Bianca Belair and current WWE Women’s Champion Nia Jax as the strongest women she has ever wrestled.
Mercedes Mone talks about her matches with Charlotte Flair
The CEO has had memorable encounters with Charlotte Flair in WWE. One of the matches they wrestled was an Ironman contest at the Roadblock 2016 event.
In an edition of her newsletter, The CEO claimed she recalled her meeting with The Queen at the Roadblock Premium Live Event after watching Will Ospreay and MJF's Dynamite 250 contest.
Ospreay and MJF's incredible 60-minute match got me thinking about Iron Man matches and my Iron Woman match with Charlotte Flair. It went about 42 minutes, and I know we ended up going over time. (...) Every time I was done, the only thing I wanted to do was to do more ... I knew the match with Charlotte was going to be so special. In addition to the storytelling and wrestling, you need someone with stamina – or at least I do — and Charlotte has it and then some," she said.
It will be interesting to see if fans could see the duo once again in the ring.
