Mercedes Moné reacts to legend urging her to appear in an "open-chest costume" in upcoming AEW dream match
This year's Title Tuesday edition of AEW Dynamite is set to feature Mercedes Moné in one of her biggest matches yet. While busy preparing for her next championship obstacle, The CEO received a unique challenge from her new foe. However, Moné quickly dismissed the taunt by firing back.
The former Sasha Banks of WWE has been AEW's TBS Champion since May 26, and she has held the Strong Women's Championship since June 30. The third annual Title Tuesday edition of Dynamite will see Moné defend both titles against Emi Sakura in their first-ever match. The Japanese wrestling legend has been away from All Elite Wrestling since her Rampage loss to Yuka Sakazaki on April 20, which was her only All Elite match this year.
The Dictator took to X/Twitter today to taunt the former WWE Women's Champion. Sakura challenged Moné to show up in an "open chest costume" if the champion is brave enough to take the challenger's signature chops.
"Hey @MercedesVarnado If you got the courage to take my Chops, show up wearing a open chest Costume, the seconds of you come out of the your entrance i’ll know your worth as a champion. you have pleanty of costumes i assume right? #AEW," Emi Sakura wrote.
Mercedes quickly denied the ring attire suggestion from the former All Japan Women's Champion. The 32-year-old included a GIF with her two-word reply.
"Absolutely not!!" Mercedes Moné wrote with the GIF below.
Moné and Kamille are expected to feud with Kris Statlander soon. The heel duo confronted Statlander on Rampage this weekend, and Mercedes called Kris a "b***h," while advising her to watch the former NWA World Women's Champion's match, which was a squash over Zoey Lynn. It appears Kamille vs. Statlander may be the focus.
Update on AEW Dynamite: Title Tuesday
All Elite Wrestling will return to Spokane Arena in Spokane, Washington for the third annual Title Tuesday edition of Dynamite this week. This will also serve as the go-home show for WrestleDream.
Officials have confirmed just three matches for Title Tuesday. Below is the updated lineup:
- Britt Baker vs. Willow Nightingale (winner faces Women's World Champion Mariah May at WrestleDream)
- Strong Women's Championship & AEW TBS Championship Match: Mercedes Moné (c) vs. Emi Sakura
- Match of Champions: World Champion Bryan Danielson and World Trios Champion Wheeler Yuta vs. World Trios Champions PAC and Claudio Castagnoli
In addition to Dynamite airing on a special night this week, there will also be a special start time of 9 pm ET on TBS. Friday's Rampage will also be taped.
