Mercedes Mone not ruling out dream match against WWE star: "I came to AEW and she went to the other place"
AEW star Mercedes Mone wants to compete in a dream match against WWE star Jade Cargill. The former TBS Champion left the promotion in 2023.
Jade Cargill left All Elite Wrestling to sign with WWE last year. She has been featured in the women’s division after forming a tag team with Bianca Belair and the duo are also the current WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. However, Cargill left a lot of dream matchups behind in All Elite Wrestling. One of them was against Mercedes Mone.
Speaking on the Battleground podcast, Mercedes Mone recalled how before she came to All Elite Wrestling, fans told her they wanted to see a match between herself and Jade Cargill. Mercedes acknowledged that a match might happen in the future despite both stars being in different promotions.
“I mean, you never know in wrestling. I never cross paths with her. But every single autograph signing I’ve been to before I even came to AEW, so many fans were like, 'I hope you get to wrestle Jade, I want you to wrestle Jade.' I’m like, ‘Alright’. Then I came to AEW and she went to the other place but you never know. There’s a lot of dream matches out there in existence so, you never know in wrestling.” [9:10-9:38]
Mercedes Mone wants an all-women show in AEW
The focus on women’s wrestling has grown in the past few years. Both WWE and AEW have a great women’s roster and in a recent interview on the Battleground podcast, current TBS Champion Mercedes Mone believes a show should be created for the women in All Elite Wrestling.
“Wow, a weekly show? Absolutely! I mean, we have the talent, so why not? All Elite Women’s Wrestling—there you go! We have the best women wrestlers, including Willow, Mariah May, Toni Storm, Serena Deeb, Kris Statlander, and Kamille. There is definitely an opportunity to have an all-women’s show every single week, so I don’t see why not. We have a roster full of talented wrestlers and a long list of women we can feature in a women’s pay-per-view. I think just giving them the chance and opportunity, and if Tony sees that, I don’t see why we can’t have a women’s revolution here in AEW. It’s happening already! The women have just been killing it every single week.” [H/T Ringside News]
Mercedes Mone has been the TBS Champion since making her in-ring debut at Double or Nothing. We will have to wait and see who will dethrone her for the title in All Elite Wrestling.
