Mercedes Mone wants an unlikely star to defeat Toni Storm and become the new AEW Women's World Champion
TBS Champion Mercedes Mone hopes to see a popular star defeat Toni Storm to become the AEW Women's World Champion. The name in question is none other than Mina Shirakawa.
The Japanese star is set to battle 'Timeless' Toni Storm for the AEW Women's World Championship at the Forbidden Door pay-per-view on June 30. On X/Twitter, Mercedes Mone recently reacted to Mina Shirakawa calling her a dream opponent.
The TBS Champion wrote that she hoped Shirakawa would dethrone Toni Storm on Sunday at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door so they could compete against each other later.
"Mina always takes care of me in [Japan]! Her kindness I will cherish forever. I can’t wait to see you take that title this Sunday. Then we can have our match," wrote Mone.
Shirakawa is relatively new to AEW, as she is a mainstay in World Wonder Ring Stardom. Hence, not many fans expect her to defeat Storm for the gold on June 30. However, the Japanese sensation may shock viewers by securing a massive win.
Bayley misses AEW star Mercedes Mone in WWE
WWE Women's Champion Bayley has competed against Mercedes Mone several times in the past. The former tag team partners share a close bond outside the ring.
In a recent interview with Denise Salcedo, Bayley revealed that she still speaks to Mone and misses competing against her in the squared circle.
"I'm so excited to see [Mercedes Mone] take this to the next level, as much as I miss having her here. Wrestling to me still feels weird without her but it's like I have her in a different way where I can tell her what's going on here and what I need help with and what I'm trying to do to make it better over here and the same goes for her. So, it's kind of nice that we are able to help and grow in two different companies and separately. So, I think in a way it's kind of better you know." [From 03:09 to 03:38]
Bayley is currently leading the SmackDown women's division in WWE. Meanwhile, Mercedes Mone is moving up the ladder in All Elite Wrestling. It will be interesting to see if they will lock horns in the future.
