MJF calls on fans to show popular duo some respect
MJF has come out and asked fans to show a popular duo some respect because of the position they hold. The duo is hated by the fans due to their antics.
Ever since The Young Bucks turned heel and adopted this corporate gimmick, they haven't wrestled frequently. The number of matches they've had has reduced drastically after they captured the AEW World Tag Team Championship. The Bucks have also been quite reluctant to defend their titles.
As a result, fans have often called out The Young Bucks. Even The Acclaimed has taken shots at them. However, it was reported that The Bucks' new contract allows them to work fewer dates. In the midst of this, MJF has come to their defense.
During an interview with WrestleTalk, Maxwell Jacob Friedman stated that new signees as well as fans should treat The Bucks with respect since they are co-founders and EVPs in the company.
"I think it's unfortunate that, if new people come into my company, I feel like they should be showing them that respect that they earned and deserves. I feel the fans should be showing them that respect they earned and deserved." [H/T - WrestlingInc.]
MJF on whether he would've wrestled CM Punk again in AEW
Apart from the many controversies, one major highlight from CM Punk's run in AEW was his feud with Maxwell Jacob Friedman. The two men locked horns twice in singles competition and are tied at one apiece. However, with Punk in WWE now, the odds of this happening again are unlikely.
During the interview with WrestleTalk, Friedman was asked if he would ever wrestle Punk again in AEW. MJF was very clear that he would have fought, but only if there was a world title on the line.
"I would have won if we wrestled again. I think everybody knows that. I’m a very smart individual, I’ve actually mentioned this in regards to Swerve, as history repeats itself, I’m a man that… I like to pick my spots. It’s very obvious that I could have beaten him again as I had already beaten him twice in Chicago. But why would I beat him when there was no world title on the line?"
It would be interesting to see if this trilogy between MJF and CM Punk ever takes place down the road.
