MJF dumps his AEW International Championship in the trash and unveils a brand new title
MJF discarded his AEW International Title in the trash and unveiled a brand-new championship belt. These events unfolded on the latest episode of Dynamite.
The Wolf of Wrestling opened the latest edition of AEW Dynamite: Blood and Guts with a promo during which he fired several shots against his rivals in the company and the fans packing the Bridgestone Arena. He aimed Will Ospreay with several personal barbs after barely defeating the latter last week for his International Championship. He also warned AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland that he intended to regain his prized Triple B from the latter at the opportune moment.
Later, during his promo, Friedman expressed his disdain for the current International Title, which, he pointed out, was beloved among fans because of the work done by respected workhorses who previously held the championship. MJF claimed that he deserved a title belt that was in better accord with his credentials and proceeded to chuck the International Championship belt in a garbage can outside the ring. He then unveiled a brand new title instead of the former, which he dubbed the American Championship.
As MJF continued to celebrate his new title under a rain of confetti, he was attacked by Will Ospreay and immediately retreated from the clutches of The Aerial Assassin. The Englishman called out MJF for lying about the manner of his victory over him. He disclosed having talked with Tony Khan and Christopher Daniels about a rematch for the International Title at AEW All In 2024.
Ospreay furthermore collected the discarded International Championship belt from the trash can before exiting to the back.
It remains to be seen if Will Ospreay can regain the International Title at Wembley Stadium next month.
