MJF interrupts hiatus to criticize major AEW announcement
MJF has lashed out at AEW. The former World Champion is currently taking time away from the company, but that did not stop him from calling officials out over a recent decision. The Dynamite decision was met with some criticism from fans, but now MJF has made a soon-to-be viral statement against his employer.
Maxwell Jacob Friedman has been on hiatus since defeating Daniel Garcia at All Out on September 7. Garcia's post-match attack was done to temporarily write Friedman out of the storylines. The break means the AEW Original will miss the Dynamite 5th Anniversary show on Wednesday. Officials have announced World Champion Bryan Danielson vs. Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada for the show, but Okada's gold will only be defended in the first 20 minutes. The actual stipulation from the announcement reads like this: "AEW World Title vs. AEW Continental Title. Continental Title Only At Stake For The First 20 Minutes."
The Wolf Of Wrestling hasn't been very active on social media since All Out. The 10-year industry veteran took to X to criticize AEW's announcement on Okada vs. Danielson III. He tagged NASA (America's National Aeronautics & Space Administration), the official account of the Albert Einstein Estate, and the Tweet Of God parody account run by comedy writer David Javerbaum.
"Guys, I had to stop what I was doing to read this graphic. After reading it repeatedly for a full 8 hours I’ve come to the conclusion ... No human being can possibly comprehend this stipulation. It’s impossible. @NASA @AlbertEinstein @TheTweetOfGod Plz help!" MJF wrote.
Friedman then posted a follow-up to confirm that he was not joking around. The 28-year-old made this clear with five words.
"This post definitely wasn't sarcastic," MJF wrote.
Dynamite will mark the third singles bout between The American Dragon and The Rainmaker. Danielson won their first match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2023, but Okada got the win back at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18 this past January.
AEW Dynamite 5th Anniversary show updated lineup
All Elite Wrestling will return to the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh for another special episode on Wednesday. This will be the Dynamite 5th Anniversary show and the 261st edition of Tony Khan's flagship program.
There are now four big matches set for Dynamite, with WrestleDream lineup additions also expected. Below is the updated lineup:
- Title vs. Title Match: Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada vs. World Champion Bryan Danielson (Okada's title is only on the line during the first 20 minutes)
- International Championship Match: Will Ospreay (c) vs. Ricochet
- Serena Deeb vs. Britt Baker in her hometown
- Adam Page vs. Juice Robinson
Officials will also tape the October 4, edition of Rampage on Wednesday, but no matches have been announced as of this writing. This will be the 165th edition of Rampage.
