MJF rallies AEW fans against common enemy amid politically charged climate
Former AEW World Champion MJF had a message for his fans today on social media. While it seemed at first that he was referencing a divisive political figure, it was ultimately an attempt to rally fans against his greatest foe, Adam Cole.
With election season in full swing in the United States, X/Twitter owner Elon Musk is under major scrutiny. Many are calling the SpaceX founder out due to his support of Donald Trump and controversial promotion of his America Pac.
MJF took to X/Twitter today with a message that echoed many of those criticisms. The Wolf of Wrestling referred to X as the most negative platform on the internet and called out the man who is separating the platform's users with his "disgusting rhetoric." But Friedman wasn't referring to Musk or Trump. Instead, he was rallying fans against Adam Cole:
"this app has become the most negative place on the entire internet. It’s obvious that this stems from a man who’s separated all of us further apart with his disgusting rhetoric. Causing people of all walks of life to pick a side and to harbor hate. We must stop Adam Cole."
MJF and Adam Cole are on a collision course two years in the making
The history between MJF and Adam Cole is long and complicated. The Panama City Playboy tried desperately to wrest the AEW World Championship from Friedman throughout 2023 but was unable to beat him.
Ultimately, the two became friends, and Maxwell Jacob Friedman began to soften and embrace the love of AEW's fans. However, Cole's friendship turned out to be a ploy, and his betrayal at Worlds End last year resulted in MJF losing his championship and being put on the shelf for months.
The Wolf of Wrestling returned at Double or Nothing this year and laid out his former friend. Cole then made a shocking comeback of his own and attacked Maxwell at WrestleDream earlier this month.
The bond between the two men is now entirely gone. While Adam Cole has justified his betrayal at Worlds End as the need to fight evil with evil, Friedman has revealed that Cole's duplicity has left him unable to love or trust anyone ever again.
It now seems that there's nothing left for the two to do but fight. Adam Cole has never been able to defeat MJF in singles competition, but now that both men are healthy and filled with a desire for retribution, it remains to be seen who will come out on top.
