MJF reveals if he would have ever wrestled CM Punk again in AEW; makes a huge claim
One of the positive highlights of CM Punk's run in AEW was his feud with MJF. The two men faced each other twice in singles matches and recently Friedman made a huge claim about Punk.
MJF is one of the best heels in the business. He possesses the ability to draw heat from any situation. He is good in the ring but can also hold his own on the mic. Hence, when CM Punk joined AEW in 2021, many fans were salivating at the fact that they would get to see these two go at it on the mic. And they didn't disappoint.
Both Maxwell Jacob Friedman and CM Punk engaged in a heated where their promos became the center of attraction. Both men faced off in two singles matches and aew tied at one apiece. During a recent interview with WrestleTalk, MJF claimed that if he had wrestled Punk again, then he would've won.
"I would have won if we wrestled again. I think everybody knows that. I’m a very smart individual, I’ve actually mentioned this in regards to Swerve as history repeats itself, I’m a man that… I like to pick my spots. It’s very obvious that I could have beaten him again as I had already beaten him twice in Chicago. But why would I beat him when there was no World Title on the line?"
The Wolf of Wrestling continued to say that he would've waited for the Straight Edge Superstar to become the World Champion before facing him again.
"But to answer your question, if CM Punk was still in my company, I would have definitely waited for him to have been the World Champion."
MJF has his eyes on the World Championship match at AEW All In 2024
At AEW All In 2024, Swerve Strickland and Bryan Danielson are set to clash in a Title vs. Career match. All eyes will be on this bout as it could be the last time that we see Danielson wrestler. Even MJF will be watching.
During the same interview, Maxwell Jacob Friedman mentioned that both men are going to hurt each other in this match and he is going to wait and pick his spot.
"I’m also better off wrestling Swerve after that match is over for the World Title because Danielson is going to hurt him, they’re going to hurt each other. So I’m just picking my spots and I’m waiting. I’m looking forward to being a double champion - being American Champion and the World Champion."
It will be interesting to see if Bryan Danielson will be able to win the AEW World Title at All In 2024.
