Multi-time world champion calls out CM Punk for exploiting AEW

In a surprising turn of events, multi-time world champion Booker T has called out CM Punk for what he perceives as exploiting AEW.

The wrestling legend questioned CM Punk's intentions in joining AEW and supporting its talent. Things got complicated when Punk's involvement in AEW Collision, a new show, became uncertain due to his friend Ace Steel not being allowed at the tapings.

As a result, Punk was removed from the Warner Bros. Discovery press release and clarified that he is not associated with TNT's AEW Collision.

During the latest episode of his "Hall of Fame" podcast, Booker T said that Punk's primary motivation was financial rather than a genuine desire to contribute to the company.

"I don’t think CM Punk came in there to care about AEW. I think he came in there to say what he was going to do, and that was get a big bag and have some big matches and do some cool things," Booker T said.

Furthermore, he pointed out that Darby Allin, who was the first wrestler Punk worked with has since lost momentum and cooled off considerably:

“Do you think he really came in there to help that company or help those guys? Because the first person he worked with was Darby Allin. Darby has cooled off tremendously since that match.” [H/T - Wrestling Inc.]
"There were people who thought this was the ultimate blow-up & (CM) Punk screwed Tony on Tony's big announcement—

From the WBD side, because nobody from AEW side has talked about this— they have said their belief is there will be an attempt to work it out”

The mystery surrounding CM Punk's future in AEW

The Second City Saint's status in AEW remains uncertain due to his suspension and recent injury. Speculation arises about his return to the company and when it might happen. Rumors about Ace Steel's re-hiring added to the confusion, but sources claim it's unrelated to Punk's situation.

According to WrestlePurists, Punk is still committed to AEW and eager to contribute to its success.

CM Punk is still with AEW and it sounds like he is motivated, and wanting to help the company’s growth however he can.

Punk’s relationship with Tony Khan also appears to be on sound footing, with no issues between the two men, and communication remaining open.
