MVP announced for first wrestling match in nearly 2 years

Former WWE Superstar MVP recently made his debut in AEW. The Franchise Playa has now been scheduled for his first match in over two years, albeit not in the Tony Khan-led promotion.

Montel Vontavious Porter stunned fans by showing up at Bloodsport XI earlier this year to confront Josh Barnett, confirming his departure from WWE. The 50-year-old veteran issued a challenge to The Warmaster, which the latter accepted.

Taking to X/Twitter, Barnett has now officially confirmed that MVP will make his return to active competition for the first time since 2022 as the two men will square off at Bloodsport XII on November 24. The post offered some insight into the history shared between Barnett and the former WWE US Champion and promised an intense contest between the two stars.

"The long history of training and friendship was explained and also revealed as the source of the challenge laid down between MVP and the Warmaster at Bloodsport XI. Mutual respect and admiration was given, not freely, but earned through respecting the other's strength. That desire to test one's strength now decides that a match must happen. A match where limits will not be constrained and both wrestler's will use all they have down to their very cores, because what is more valuable than he who shed his blood for his friend?" wrote Barnett.

What MVP has been up to in AEW

MVP arrived in AEW on the 2024 edition of Dynamite: Grand Slam to call out Prince Nana for supposedly mismanaging Swerve Strickland. He later introduced Shelton Benjamin to the promotion as his "business partner," and afterward, invited Strickland to join their faction - presumably dubbed The Hurt Syndicate - at WrestleDream 2024.

However, the former AEW World Champion refused The Ballin' Superstar's offer, leading to a scuffle breaking out between Swerve and Benjamin. After The Standard of Excellence successfully defeated Lio Rush in his All Elite in-ring debut, MVP advised Strickland to reconsider his offer, seemingly sending a warning to the latter, who responded by agreeing to face Benjamin in the ring.

Swerve's refusal did not stop MVP's recruitment drive, however, as he left his business card with a beaten Rush, and had handed a card to Max Caster of The Acclaimed before that.
