MVP breaks silence after his AEW in-ring debut gets announced

MVP has been the mouthpiece for The Hurt Syndicate ever since joining AEW, but he's about to lace up his boots once again. The former WWE Superstar sent out a confident message after it was revealed that he will compete on this week's Dynamite.

MVP has wrestled a few times on the independent scene lately, but he hasn't had a match on television since the July 18, 2022 episode of WWE RAW, when he was still managing Omos. But with The Hurt Syndicate now targeting Private Party's AEW World Tag Team Championship, the 51-year-old is stepping back in the ring.

The Hurt Syndicate's Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin, and MVP are set to battle Private Party and Mark Briscoe in a Trios Match this Wednesday. Ahead of the big clash at Dynamite: Maximum Carnage, Porter took to X (fka Twitter) to underline that he was a wrestler first and a mouthpiece second.

"I am taking off the suit and lacing up the boots to wrestle on TV for the first time in over 2 1/2 years. I am a professional wrestler 1st, 'mouthpiece' 2nd. See you Wednesday. #AEWDynamite #thehurtsyndicate #fashionablyviolent #wehurtpeople," he wrote.

AEW's MVP speaks after his first match in two years

Prior to joining All Elite Wrestling, MVP hadn't wrestled a match since mid-2022. While this Wednesday will see his first in-ring action for Tony Khan's promotion, he has laced up his boots on the indie scene.

MVP competed under GCW's banner at Josh Barnett's Bloodsport XII event on November 24 last year. Although he lost to Barnett, he claimed that the match reinvigorated him:

"Thank you, @JoshLBarnett and GCW! Last night recharged my batteries. My 1st match in over 2 years, and you all made it special," MVP wrote on X/Twitter.

The Hurt Syndicate has made it their mission to take over AEW, and if they get their hands on the company's Tag Team Championship, they'll have completed the first step. Whether they can defeat Private Party remains to be seen.
