MVP reveals career-altering announcement after AEW transition
AEW star MVP made a huge announcement weeks after signing with the Jacksonville-based promotion. He made his debut in the company at Grand Slam: Dynamite.
The former WWE United States Champion was managing a prominent faction in the company named The Hurt Business. Apart from MVP, the group contained Shelton Benjamin, Bobby Lashley, and Cedric Alexander. The star has been known for his incredible mic skills and for his managerial work.
MVP is currently a business associate with Shelton Benjamin in AEW. He also approached Swerve Strickland and proposed the latter his managership. However, the former AEW World Champion declined the offer and chose to stay with his current manager Prince Nana. Despite being already busy with his new spot at Tony Khan-led promotion, he recently revealed a new role at a huge promotion.
Recently, Westside Gunn took to X/Twitter and uploaded a clip on social media where MVP discloses that he is the commissioner of his new promotion 4th Rope.
"Fans of the culture I have a huge announcement, something I've been dying to tell you, but we'll get to that in a moment. First things first, November 2nd, Chicago, Illinois, 4th Rope brings you Heels Have Eyes III. We have all kinds of surprises in store, but we'll have Sami Callihan, Nick Cage, Enzo, Cha Cha Charlie, Primo, Pete Rock - legends in attendance and we promise you you're gonna have a good time. But that announcement that I was gonna tell you, MVP is now officially the commissioner of 4th Rope," MVP said.
MVP to make his in-ring return
MVP has had a storied career, one that has been marked by multiple title wins and stints in two of the world's biggest promotions - WWE and AEW. Earlier this year, he laid down a challenge to Josh Barnett in July during Bloodsport event.
Recently, Josh answered the challenge and they will square off at Bloodsports XII.
"The long history of training and friendship was explained and also revealed as the source of the challenge laid down between MVP and the Warmaster at Bloodsport XI. Mutual respect and admiration was given, not freely, but earned through respecting the other's strength. That desire to test one's strength now decides that a match must happen. A match where limits will not be constrained and both wrestler's will use all they have down to their very cores, because what is more valuable than he who shed his blood for his friend?" wrote Barnett.
It will be interesting to see who will be the next business associate of the 50-year-old star.
