MVP could do something in AEW that puts "Tony Khan in an uneasy position," says WWE veteranĀ (Exclusive)
WWE veteran Vince Russo believes MVP's expertise in booking AEW's Hurt Syndicate could put Tony Khan in an uneasy position. Tony Khan is the CEO and President of All Elite Wrestling.
MVP and Shelton Benjamin made their AEW debuts last month and formed The Hurt Syndicate. The duo picked up a fight with Prince Nana and Swerve Strickland soon after their debut. The angle led to Bobby Lashley's debut on last week's Fright Night edition of Dynamite where Lashley and The Hurt Syndicate took out Prince Nana and Swerve Strickland to end the show.
In the recent episode of Sportskeeda's Writing with Russo podcast, former WWE Head Writer Vince Russo claimed that the presentation of The Hurt Syndicate depends on MVP. The veteran believes that MVP can make people care about the faction which would put AEW CEO Tony Khan in an uneasy position.
"It all depends on the way they presented it and the beauty of this is, MVP's very intelligent. He can present this on an intellectual level, he could present it based on facts, he could literally make a case for it that would make people think about it and that would put Tony Khan in an uneasy position. I think that's the perfect guy that could do that." [2:50 - 3:32]
Vince Russo claims AEW is lucky to have MVP
The fans already have a taste of what MVP, Shelton Benjamin, and Bobby Lashley are capable of as a group. They were known as The Hurt Business in WWE and the faction also had Cedric Alexander as the fourth member. After having a great run for some months, the group was broken up and Bobby Lashley was left with MVP as his manager.
In the same episode, Vince Russo claimed that AEW and The Hurt Syndicate are lucky to have MVP onboard as he can help to sell the group's purpose and turn a portion of the audience into their fans.
"They're lucky to have a guy as smart as MVP because they could do it in a way that they're not heels. Because if they're telling the truth and the fans wanna boo them, boo away. But if they're laying down the facts, you're gonna have a portion of your audience saying, 'You know what, they're right,' and if you're producing facts and numbers and you're doing it in a calm way and a respectful way, you're gonna have a part of your audience saying, 'You know what, what he's saying is true.'" Fans will have to wait and see how All Elite Wrestling books The Hurt Syndicate going forward.
