New world champion on AEW Dynamite draws marginal increase in ratings this week

An AEW star being crowned as a world champion resulted in an increase in ratings for Dynamite. The name being discussed is ROH World Champion Chris Jericho.

The recent edition of Dynamite was a story-based episode, with the plot building towards the blockbuster edition next Wednesday, Fright Night Dynamite. The show opened as Jon Moxley cut another bold promo. Also, the show ended with the AEW World Champion and his faction running from the ring after they ambushed Chuck Taylor's neck.

Further, Chris Jericho defeated Mark Briscoe in a Ladder War and became a two-time ROH World Champion. This was his ninth world championship victory of his career. He had a massive assist from Big Bill as he took out Mark and helped The Learning Tree climb the ladder.

According to Wrestlenomics, AEW's flagship show drew 637,000 average viewers and was rated 0.19 among the 18-49 demographics. This number is slightly up from last week as previously, Dynamite garnered a 633,00 total audience.

Moreover, Shelton Benjamin took a huge victory over Sammy Guevara and gained momentum ahead of Fright Night Dynamite against Swerve Strickland. Adam Cole will also face Buddy Matthews after the latter laid out an open challenge.

It will be interesting to see if the special edition next Wednesday will help increase ratings.
