Nic Nemeth makes an interesting John Cena comparison while talking about Jack Perry
Nic Nemeth referenced John Cena while discussing Jack Perry during an interview on Busted Open Podcast recently. Perry made an astonishing return to AEW on a Dynamite episode and partnered with The Young Bucks to assault the President of AEW, Tony Khan in the ring.
The attack was the latest twist in a chain of events that had been going on since Perry and CM Punk had a backstage altercation at All In 2023. The scuffle resulted in Perry being suspended indefinitely and Punk being released from the company.
Later, the wrestler fka Jungle Boy made his NJPW debut and used the word "scapegoat" in his promos to protest against the company's move to suspend him. He recently had a match at NJPW's Windy City Riot in Chicago where he lost to Shota Umino.
Nic Nemeth (fka Dolph Ziggler) has had a storied career with WWE and the two parted ways last year. There were rumors that he would join AEW, as his brother, Ryan Nemeth is signed with the Jacksonville-based company, However, Nic has remained a free agent and appears at NJPW among other promotions.
He spoke about the live audience's reaction to Perry when he appeared at the Windy City. Chicago being CM Punk's hometown, Perry made sure to elicit all the heat he could get from the fans and Nemeth compared the situation to John Cena's from back in the day in WWE.
"I was also on that Windy City Riot Show in Chicago with him to where I was curious, like 'oh, this kid's coming back, let's see how it's going on to go, and booing him out of the building, and the craziest reactions, and then almost a Cena-esque 'we are booing you, but we know that you are here, and we like the story,'" said Nemeth.
