Nigel McGuinness takes a major shot at Bryan Danielson amid his AEW absence

Bryan Danielson has been absent from TV since he was attacked by his former faction, the Blackpool Combat Club, at All Out. Amidst his absence from programming, Nigel McGuinness took a major shot at him recently.

Danielson was set to put his AEW World Championship on the line against Darby Allin, but his status is unclear after Jon Moxley suffocated him at All Out. Now, Darby will take on Jon Moxley at Dynamite: Grand Slam with his title shot on the line.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, Nigel McGuinness challenged Danielson for a match at Dynamite: Grand Slam in case the champion gets cleared to wrestle for the event.

Yesterday, the 48-year-old star started a countdown on X/Twitter to provoke Bryan. Today, he posted another video as a part of his daily countdown where he once again took a shot at his former nemesis. He called the world champion "Cryin' Bryan Danielson".

"9 days to Grand Slam - no answer from Cryin Bryan - in the meantime, allow me to clear something up... #oasisforever #isaidmaybe #AllEliteWrestling #grandslam #americancoward Shame the clam digger into facing me," Nigel wrote in the caption.

Disco Inferno believes Jinder Mahal deserves a World Title match more than Nigel McGuinness

Earlier this year, Tony Khan mocked WWE for giving Jinder Mahal (who was absent for a few months) a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship. But now, he has given Nigel McGuinness the same opportunity in his company although the latter has been inactive as an in-ring performer for 13 years.

In the recent edition of the Keepin' IT 100 podcast, Disco Inferno commented on Nigel McGuinness' challenge to Bryan Danielson for the AEW World Championship. He criticized Khan's decision to put the former ROH World Champion in the world title picture and stated that The Modern Day Maharaja is more deserving of a title shot.

The last time fans saw Nigel inside the ring before his 13-year hiatus was on December 17, 2011, at the APWA 3rd Annual Holiday Grand Prix event where he lost a singles match against TJ Phillips. He returned to wrestling at the 2024 All In event in London where he participated in the Casino Gauntlet match.
